What are the challenges?
Digital device use has sharply increased in the past 9 years. If we look at South Korea, the most digitally connected country in the world, the leap in mobile phones own by teenagers for example, went from 5 million units in 2010 to more than 40.12 million in just 4 years.
Research shows a significant relationship between the forward head tilt posture and sitting for five hours in front of a computer, with neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, headaches and reduced mobility.
When your head is tilted forward at 45 degrees, the pressure on the neck becomes 22 kg, instead of the normal 5kg when it’s aligned over the shoulders. The immediate effect is a pulling of the spinal cord and strained muscles.
Over time you can develop a ¨Text Neck¨ (meaning stuck and tilted forward). This may result is cognitive decline, not to mention loss of focus, brain fatigue, low mood, lack of empathy. We may also see attention deficit, impaired learning, increased impulsivity, sleep problems…
When problems do occur, you need a comprehensive set of solutions:
The key is in assessing the brain´s posture control system. The posture system is what allows you to sit and stand upright, and to counteract the effects of gravity.
Once the weaker links are identified, target specific work or school posture system correction exercises are provided, along with learning new habits.
Gentle chiropractic sessions to “unlock” the spine, ensure optimal alignment, flexibility and energy to power-up your postural muscles, and to resolve pain patterns, focus and mood.
In addition, with specific photographs, we will do a virtual work space evaluation. We can then make recommendations for a productive work space, and “exercise equipment” for the work place or home.
Finally, food & nutrient therapy are provided, to combat sluggish energy or brain fog, and to build vitality!
